Bishop of Anglican Church, Ihiala Diocese in Anambra, Reverend Israel Okoye has called on the the Federal Government and the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) to yield to the N30,000 minimum wage demand of the labor groups and its allies.

The Herald reports that the Bishop made the plea at the third synod of the Diocese at St. Mary’s Church, Isseke, Ihiala Local Government Area on Thursday.

The cleric, while speaking on the theme “where are you”, said the devil is doing everything possible to distract Christians from Biblical Christianity.

Okoye added that “The debacle over minimum wage implementation in Nigeria is unnecessary as government could eliminate financial wastages in whatever form to increase the salaries of workers.”

He further stated that Nigerian workers deserved to be treated better than what is currently obtained seeing that there is a need to prevent workers from going on strike.

On next year’s general elections, the Bishop advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to avoid being used as political tools for misconduct.

The bishop also called for the release of Leah Sharibu while admonishing Christians to always stand on the truth of the Word of God.
