“Save Ijebu-Ode”: CAN President Cries Out in Thanksgiving Service for Ijebu Community

As the New Year continues to be ushered in in various ways and manners, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ijebu Ode Chapter has held a New Year thanksgiving service for the people of Ijebu, Ogun State. The event held at the palace of the Awujale of ijebu land, Oba Sikiru Adetona in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.

The Sun reports that the event had in attendance indigenes of Ijebu and personages from different walks of life including Otunba Subomi Balogun, Sunny Kuku, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Deji Osibogun, Chief Bisi Rodipe, Obas from Ijebuland and others.

The Chairman of Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Ijebu Ode chapter, Reverend Richard Oladele, called for prayers of peace for the country and Ogun state in particular.
The cleric called on Ogun state government to rescue the community by completing ongoing projects in Ijebu-Ode, especially the uncompleted roads to avoid crisis during the rainy periods.

Oladele seized the opportunity to admonish politicians, who he described as key players in the country’s development, to act in accordance with the law and to avoid electoral fraud by way of rigging.

Meanwhile, elderly men and women as well as youths also praised the monarch, Oba Adetona, for his efforts at fostering peace in the community.
