INGRAHAM BLASTS RACISM 'DOUBLE-STANDARD': MEDIA SILENT ON JEREMIAH WRIGHT & OBAMA, USES SHARPTON AS 'EXPERT'
In her Ingraham Angle commentary, Laura Ingraham said there is a "double standard" between inexcusable and racist remarks from pro-Trump figures like Roseanne Barr and from those on the left. Ingraham said that after Barr made abhorrent remarks about Obama friend Valerie Jarrett, the press and the left acted like "all roads lead back to Trump." CNN host Don Lemon said that "we know what Donald Trump thinks [and] we know what Roseanne Barr thinks... it's racist. They're exhibiting racist behavior." MSNBC "Morning Joe" host Mika Brzezinski said Trump "can be racist and nothing happens to him." However, Ingraham pointed to several instances of racist or inflammatory rhetoric from the left that went largely without criticism. She said there was limited left-wing or media outrage to longtime Obama pastor Jeremiah Wright declaring "God d**n America" in a fiery sermon. "Even though, President Obama sat in Jeremiah Wright's pews for years marinating in that hate," she said. She said that during the 2008 election, Obama himself accused some Pennsylvanians of being xenophobic, claiming they "cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them." Ingraham said that, following Barr's tweet that torpedoed her ABC show, MSNBC held a forum on racism and featured East Harlem, N.Y. civil rights activist Al Sharpton as an "expert." Ingraham noted that Sharpton famously championed Tawana Brawley, a black woman from Dutchess County, N.Y. who accused white men of raping her in 1987 -- an allegation later found by a grand jury to be unsubstantiated. Ingraham said Sharpton, an MSNBC host, also defended a woman who falsely accused Duke University lacrosse players of sexual assault. "MSNBC wheels out [Sharpton] as an expert on bigotry and civility in America," she said. She said that the left likely does not play up inflammatory situations on their own side because "they have no substantive answers to the problems facing minority communities, so they race-bait and demonize their opponents."
