Police Arrest Killers of Imo Catholic Priest
Imo State Commissioner of Police, Dasuki Galadanchi has arrested two suspect linked to the killing of a Catholic Priest, Revd Fr Jude Egbuom, in Anara -Nkwerre road in Nkwerre town three days ago. Revd Fr Jude Egbuom alongside another victim was killed after the Priest refused to give his Toyota Avalon Car keys to the robbers on Monday, in Nkwerre local government area. Authority news reports that amongst those paraded were two suspects for the kidnap of a 90 years female corpse from a morgue in Ikeduru local government area of Imo State. The Commissioner said the suspects were arrested as a result of diligent investigation by the Tactical Units of the police command. Galadanchi disclosed that one of the suspects captured was 21 years old Peter Ochokwu, an ex-convict that spent one year in Owerri prison for armed robbery and was later released while the second convict is 33 years old Chigozie Uzoukwu. The police Commissioner said that during a search, a missing shoe from the Priest was found in the possession of the suspects, alongside other personal belongings of the clergyman, which included clothing. The police had already recovered the stolen vehicle belonging to the Priest, while the operator of the barber’s salon where the Priest was stopped, one Raphael, is still answering questions from the police. Upon arrival at the police station, the suspects were identified by their former gang members, arrested for the kidnap of Engr Amasike, for who they collected N5million ransom, and the shooting of his Police orderly, whose rifle was snatched. The gang members are Kelechi Nnajiuba 24, Ifeanyi Chukwukere 28, and Ekene Ohaeri 27, who are already in custody as gathered from the Police. Galadanchi decried the rate of crimes in the State, calling on Imo residents to always provide useful information to help stop crimes before it is committed.
