National Nurses Week: Obama's inspiring quotes
National Nurses Week is an annual celebration features a host of events across the U.S. to honor nurses for the work they do, and educates the public about nurses' role in health care. We salute all the nurses all over the world and thanking them is not enough who work tirelessly to save lives. Here are four quotes from President Obama that speak to the importance of the role of nurses in our national health care system. "America's nurses are the beating heart of our medical system" "Your days can be stressful and exhausting and sometimes thankless. But through long shifts and late nights-in the hectic scrum of the emergency room, or in those quiet acts if humanity-you are saving lives, you're offering solace, you're helping to make us a better nation." "My task as President-our task as people-is to ensure that our health care system is worthy of (the nurse's) efforts." "Often with little power or sway on their own, nurses-mostly women, historically-have been a force of will and a sense of common decency, and paved the way towards better care and a more compassionate society."
