Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has reassured retired Armed Forces, especially the injured and families of fallen heroes, that his government will continue to cater to their well-being. This pledge was made during the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration held at Remembrance Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan.

The annual celebration features a march past, where Governor Makinde takes the salute and inspects the formations of men and officers on parade. The laying of wreaths is performed by nine eminent personalities, including the Governor, GOC 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Obinna Onubogu, and the Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Oyo State, Evang. Julius Ogunkojo.

While addressing the press, Governor Makinde emphasizes the importance of security agencies in maintaining law and order, which is essential for the State’s economic growth and development. He also charges them to continue guaranteeing adequate security in Oyo State.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Oyo State Command, Evang. Julius Ogunkojo, urges serving members of the Nigerian Army to collaborate with the Nigerian Legion and consider joining the organization after their retirement.

The event also features a 21-gun salute by the men of the Nigerian Army, and Governor Makinde gifts a brand-new car to Major Salahu Rasak RTD, who initiated the road safety Corp marshal (Majamaja) in Nigeria.
