Leah Sharibu: Mother Denies Suing Nigerian Government

Rebecca Sharibu, mother of Leah Sharibu, the Dapchi schoolgirl still in Boko Haram custody, has denied suing the Federal Government.

Sharibu disclosed this to CNN on Wednesday following reports that Rebecca had sued the Federal Government for damages.

According to the international news outfit, she “strenuously denied” the claims.

Her reaction was captioned in a series of tweets on the handle of CNN Africa, which read: “Rebecca Sharibu, the mother of Dapchi schoolgirl, #LeahSharibu who has been in Boko Haram captivity since February, spoke to CNN this morning and has denied reports that she is suing the federal government of Nigeria for damages

“Several publications reported that #LeahSharibu’s mother is suing Nigeria’s federal government for more than $1m. CNN made multiple calls to Rebecca Sharibu and she strenuously denied reports that she had filed the lawsuit.”
