Papa John’s Founder Resigns as Chairman of Pizza Chain

Papa John’s Pizza founder John Schnatter, who’s company earned him a net worth of over $720 million dollars, has formally resigned as chairman of his pizza chain.

His resignation follows national criticism for using the N-word and making racially charged comments on a company call with a public relations firm. According to a report by Forbes, during the call Schnatter described growing up in Indiana, where he said “people used to drag African-Americans from trucks until they died.” He also said “Colonel Sanders called blacks n—–s,” in reference to the fact that the KFC founder had never received backlash for his comments. Many people on the call took offence to Schnatter’s comments.

Papa John’s is the third largest pizza chain in the United States by sales. The company says it will appoint a new Chairman in the near future.
