Plateau Government Pledges Rapid Relocation of IDPs to Their Ancestral Homes

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Simon Bako Lalong has assured the relocation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) back to their homes before the end of 2018 in its bid to ensure peace in the state.

The Governor, represented by the Commissioner of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Bulus Bot, spoke during the Annual Reunion Church service and Thanksgiving of the Berom tagged: Wusal Berom 2018 held at Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

Lalong said the committee he constituted for the relocation and resettlement of the IDPs, currently occupying over seven IDPs camps in the state, will submit its report on Monday 12th of November which the state government will immediately implement.

“The Lalong administration has been able to convince the Inspector General of Police to make sure that a Mobile Barracks is established in Gashish which will take care of Barkin, Riyom, Bokkos and Mangu Local Governments of the state, and already the Federal Government has taken immediate action for the formation of the Barracks.”

He revealed that three units of the mobile police are being trained so as to immediately move to Gashish.

“My administration will continue to do what is right without being deterred so that the people will have a sense of belonging,” he said.

He equally said his administration is desirous and committed towards ensuring that peace is achieved permanently in the state, saying he stands for all tribes in Plateau State.
