Popular Gospel Evangelist Funmi Aragbaye Loses Spouse

Popular gospel artiste and National President of the Gospel Musicians’ Association of Nigeria (GOMAN), Evangelist Funmi Aragbaye has lost her husband, Elder Bola Aragbaye.

The deceased died at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo state at about 2:30pm on Tuesday after a brief ailment.

The family spokesman, Felix Olasoji, announced Aragbaye’s death in a statement made available on Wednesday to the News Agency of Nigeria in Ibadan.

Olasoji wrote, “During his lifetime, he worked at the Nigerian Tribune as a professional journalist under the supervision of Alhaji Lateef Jakande, who later became an Executive Governor of Lagos state.

“He left Nigerian Tribune in 1967 to join The Sketch Press Limited, where he rose to the position of editor before a former Governor of Ondo State, late Chief Adekunle Ajasin appointed him as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) in 1981.

“The late Elder Aragbaye who marked his 77th birthday on November 10, 2018 will be remembered for his exemplary leadership and philanthropic gestures to all who came his way.”

Bola Aragbaye before his demise was 77 years and a veteran journalist, married to Evangelist Aragbaye who rose to fame after the release of her Ijoba Orun Ku De De album in the ‘80s.

He is survived by his wife, Evangelist Funmi Aragbaye, children, grandchildren and family members.

The statement disclosed that burial arrangements will be announced in the future.
