The election’s returning officer, Alhaji Dokun Babarinde, announced the results on Sunday in Osogbo, adding that Okunola polled 141 votes to defeat his closet rival, Mr. Babatunde Loye, who polled 58 votes.

Alhaji Babarinde, who is also the South-West Vice Chairman of the party revealed that another aspirant, Mr. Bunmi Ibiloye, polled 12 votes.

Babarinde explained that out of 215 delegates who were accredited, 211 delegates voted and four others abstained.

Pastor Okunola in his acceptance speech called on the party’s co-contestants to support him in winning the election.

Chief Segun Fanibe, the Accord Party state chairman, spoke congratulating the winner, adding that all three contestants were qualified to govern the state.

Fanibe encouraged persons to get their permanent voter cards to cast their votes for the party.
